Founded in 1703 by Peter the Great St. Petersburg became the capital of Russia and retained this status till 1918. But even now it is considered as the "Northern capital" of Russia.

Few cities can offer as many stunning attractions and intriguing moods as St.Petersburg — City of the Tsars, combining its fascinating Russian heritage with a distinctly European outlook.

Golden Autumn as the Russians call it, heralds days of crisp bronze sunlight and the first chill promise of winter. The leaves turn to burnished gold on the trees throughout the City's parks as St. Petersburg's residents enjoy the last days of sunshine. This is a quieter, more relaxed time to visit St. Petersburg and its many fabulous sights and exeptional museums.

Out in the countryside, Catherine's Palace in Pushkin embraces the autumn light with its golden spires and luxurious interiors. Perhaps the grandest of St. Petersburg's many palaces its eighteenth century baroque style reflects the glamour and glitz of those heady imperial days.
The most Western and certainly the most beautiful city of Russia is waiting to unveil its treasures for you.

Travel Program

Day 1

  • Departure from Tallinn at 7 AM. Border crossing in Narva.
  • In the afternoon we will arrive at St. Petersburg. Lunch.
  • We will start with the citytour on a couch through the city centre. Our stroll includes the
  • Nevsky prospect (the main street of the city), Neva River embankments and bridges, Palace Square, Decembrists Square Arts Square, St.Isaac Cathedral square and Aurora Battleship.
  • We will visit Peter & Paul Fortress where all but one of Russia’s Tsars lie at rest.

The Museum of St.Petersburg History. Peter & Paul Fortress was founded by Peter I in 1703. Besides the ancient fortifications, on the grounds of the fortress one can visit the Sts.Peter and Paul Cathedral of the early XVIII century (architect Trezzini) with the burial vault of Peter the Great and other Russian tsars, the museum in Trubetskoy bastion prison, expositions: "The History of St.Petersburg", "The History of the Imperial Mint", "Pechatnya" (Printing Workshop), museum on cosmonautics and missilery; excursion route "Panorama of the Neva" - over the roofs of the fortress' bastions and curtains. From the middle of the 18th century St.Peter and Paul Fortress contained Russia's political prison.

  • Dinner at a national restaurant and overnight at 3* hotel (twin/ double rooms).
Day 2
  • The excursion this morning offeres a guided visit to the Winter Palace and Hermitage with one of the world’s finest collections of art.
  • The State Hermitage is one of the oldest and largest museums in the world. The museum is located in 5 historical buildings of St.Petersburg, including the Winter Palace - the former residence of Russian tsars. The buildings of the museum, by themselves, are architectural chef d'oeuvres. The collections of The Hermitage number over 3 million items from prehistoric to modern times. Magnificent works of art embracing prehistoric culture, Egyptian art, the art of Antiquity, and great collections of Western-European paintings and sculptures are displayed in 400 halls of the museum.
  • After lunch a guided visit to Tsarskoye Selo (formerly known as Pushkin), one of St. Petersburg's numerous Imperial estates. Located just 25 kilometres south of the city, the estate boasts a large landscape park, dotted with architectural follies, and centred on the magnificent blue, white and gold Catherine Palace with its famous Amber Room, which vanished during World War II and was restored for St. Petersburg’s 300th anniversary celebrations.

Day 3

  • After breakfast a guided visit to Peterhof.
  • Peterhof is perhaps St. Petersburg's most famous and spectacular Imperial estate. Nestled on the shore of the Gulf of Finland (part of the Baltic Sea), the palace was built by Peter the Great initially as a resting place en route to the Imperial naval base at Kronstadt. But the Tsar was quick to recognize the attractiveness of the area and masterminded a vast estate intended to rival the famous gardens of Versailles.
